| WHAT IS BUDO? |
| Budo is a Japanese word meaning “the path of the warrior”. The “bu” of Budo originally meant “to stop a spear” or “to stop conflict”. “Bushi” (one who stops conflict) became the label given to the warrior class of ancient Japan. The “do” part of Budo meant “the way” or a path one takes in life. With this in mind, Dojin interpret Budo to mean the “way” or path that a warrior takes to resolve conflict. On a higher level, Dojin believe that one can conquer fear, anger, and hate through Budo training. There is no escaping conflict. It happens on a molecular level. We can only “elevate” our battles to a higher realm. With Kodoan Budo, we fight on a spiritual level for the betterment of humanity. However, because we live in a physical world, it is only natural to start on the physical level. Eventually, our practice takes us to the spirit realm for the truly important fighting. |
