Product Details

This is an upgraded Student Shakuhachi that includes a buffalo horn inlay (in the Kinko-Ryu style) and a black lacquered bore. The bore is highly refined but left natural (other than the lacquer) so the voice of this flute is the voice of bamboo. Very high end Shakuhachi usually have a fully fabricated (read that as “artificial”) bore that loses the true sound of the bamboo. They are great for playing in ensemble musical groups but, for solo players using their Shakuhachi for meditation and, perhaps, even for spiritual growth, they are very much disconnected from the bamboo on the outside.

The voice of this Shakuhachi is the voice of bamboo. If that’s something that you’re interested in, then I invite you to consider this fine flute for your collection!

This is a 1.8 in the key of D minor pentatonic and approximately 21 and 1/4 inches in length.

Priced identically as the non-lacquered Student Model Shakuhachi, this is a one-of-a-kind flute. The flute you see in the pictures is the exact flute that you will get.
